Ron with 24 inch bass at Houston County in July 2013.

The 4-F Bass Club was founded in 1993 in Katy, Texas by a group of fishing buddies who wanted a club that is fun to fish in. Hence the name 4-F (Friends Fishing For Fun). When we formed this bass fishing club we decided that its characteristics should be: Low Cost, Fun, Companionship, Fun, Simple rules, Fun, No Cash or Expensive Prizes, and most of all, Fun.

The club fishes 11 tournaments per year, usually the 2nd Saturday of each month except December. We mostly fish local lakes within 100 miles of Houston, such as Fayette County, Gibbons Creek, Lake Conroe, Bastrop and Coleto Creek. We also fish 1 or 2 “away” tournaments per year.

The 4-F Bass Fishing Club is a Catch And Release Only club, our tournaments are paper weigh ins, not live weigh ins. You do not need to own a boat to fish in our club! About half of the club members do own a boat and half do not; we pair up by random draw to see who rides with who for the tournament.

Our annual dues are $50.00 for new members (you get a plaque for putting tournament awards on) and the same for existing members. The club uses the dues money to give a door prize at each meeting, to purchase award plates for the tournaments, trophies at the end of the year, and if anything is left over we like to sponsor underprivileged children for Christmas presents. We only have two membership requirements, you must be at least 16 years old, and you have to love to fish. You are not required to possess a bass boat or experience.

For more details on the tournament rules, check out the Club Bylaws.

We meet at 7:00 PM on the 1st Thursday of each month in the upstairs meeting room at the Kroger located at the corner of Mason Road and Westheimer Parkway. If you are looking for a Bass Club to fish with, please visit us at one of our meetings or email the President by submitting a Contact Us form.
